Join an authentic truffle hunt in Treiso, led by a tr uffle hunter and the formidable nose of Dorina the dog (or her faithful colleagues) .
Get ready to discover all sorts of fascinating facts about this precious mushroom and put your skills to the test in the field, during an hour-and-a-quarter adventure through the Piedmontese woods. Put on your walking boots – let’s go!
What we will do
We’ll meet 10 minutes before the selected time at the meeting point in Treiso (CN). Waiting for us there will be the truffle hunter Filippo and his inseparable dog Dorina (or Mia or Giotto) , who will accompany us on this adventure!
We’ll start with a presentation of the “La Luna di Dori” project, set up to protect and promote this truffle-rich area. After that, we’ll set off towards the woods and the truffle ground to begin our hunt.
Along the way, we’ll be told about the characteristics of truffle-bearing plants, anecdotes linked to the historical figure of the truffle hunter, and the secrets of training the faithful ‘tabui’ (truffle dogs in the Piedmontese language) .
Once we reach the heart of the woodland, the real educational hunt will begin! We’ll let the dog sniff around freely and, once it has located the treasure, we’ll be able to get involved ourselves by helping it extract the truffle from the ground using our hands or the traditional trowel. As this is a genuine, unscripted hunt, we’ll experience the thrill of a real search, hoping for nature’s generosity!
The route will be approximately 2 km long, with a flat first section and a second section downhill through the trees.
The activity will last a total of one hour and a quarter.
Who it is aimed at
The experience is suitable for everyone, with no age restrictions. Children under 18 must be accompanied by a responsible adult.
The route is not accessible to pushchairs, wheelchairs or people with mobility issues. Young children may take part if carried in a suitable baby carrier.
Other information
The experience takes place from June to August (the summer black truffle season) and from October to January (the white truffle season) , and is confirmed once a minimum of two participants has been reached.
Comfortable, sports-style clothing is required for this activity, along with walking shoes or waterproof boots. If you do not have these, you can hire boots on site for €5.
If you would like to take part in the experience in English or French, please contact the guide using the details provided in your booking confirmation at least one week in advance: there is a surcharge of €30 per group.
Those who wish to do so may purchase any truffles found during the tour on site .
Participants’ dogs are not permitted, so as not to interfere with the work of the truffle-hunting dogs.
Free on-street parking is available on site. The meeting point cannot be reached by public transport.

What happens in case of bad weather?
If you have made a fixed date reservation and the weather conditions are not suitable for carrying out the activity safely (according to the expert opinion of the guide), you will be refunded the full amount paid. The guide may suggest an alternative date or time for the activity. You are free to choose whether or not to accept these suggestions. If you are unable to reschedule, we will proceed with a full refund! If you have set the date of your Gift Voucher and bad weather has prevented the activity from taking place, the Voucher remains valid until the expiry date indicated on it.
If I cancel the reservation, can I get a full refund?
