Whoever finds a truffle finds a treasure. And if you get to sample some local specialities whilst you’re at it, so much the better!
Follow the noses of the experts (and their ever-present dogs) through the woods of the province of Livorno and get ready to discover the flavours, fascinating facts and secrets of one of the most prized ingredients in Italian cuisine.
An experience in the great outdoors, all about flavour!
What we will do
We’ll meet 5 minutes before the time chosen when you made your booking. Here we’ll meet Francesco, an expert guide who holds a licence to hunt for truffles.
We’ll start with a briefing to find out what it means to be a truffle farmer and learn lots of other interesting facts about truffles.
Then we’ll start the hunt: accompanied by Nocciola, a friendly Lagotto Romagnolo, we’ll explore the farm’s grounds, which feature a hazelnut grove and around 2 hectares of truffle grounds. We’ll watch the truffle hunter work with his dog and learn to recognise the plants around us, as well as discover how to extract black truffles or scorzone, depending on the season.
At the end of the hunt, we’ll relax in a designated area, where we’ll enjoy a 1½-hour tasting session ( included) featuring fresh truffles, local wines, and regional cheeses and honey.
We’ll say our goodbyes after a total of three hours of activities.
Who it is aimed at
This activity is suitable for everyone, with no age restrictions. Children under 18 must be accompanied by an adult.
This experience is not suitable for people with reduced mobility or wheelchair users.

The activity runs from April to October and will be confirmed once a minimum of 5 participants has been reached .
The meeting point is accessible by public transport and by car, and free parking is available.
Dogs are allowed on a lead.
Any allergies or intolerances must be reported in advance to the organisers using the contact details provided in the booking confirmation email (we cannot guarantee that food will be free from gluten in the case of coeliac disease) .
Subject to availability and the outcome of the truffle hunt, fresh truffles will be available for purchase on site.

What happens in case of bad weather?
If you have made a fixed date reservation and the weather conditions are not suitable for carrying out the activity safely (according to the expert opinion of the guide), you will be refunded the full amount paid. The guide may suggest an alternative date or time for the activity. You are free to choose whether or not to accept these suggestions. If you are unable to reschedule, we will proceed with a full refund! If you have set the date of your Gift Voucher and bad weather has prevented the activity from taking place, the Voucher remains valid until the expiry date indicated on it.
If I cancel the reservation, can I get a full refund?
