Full description
If you are looking for postcard views, if you are hungry for breathtaking views, if you want to experience the thrill of heights, this is the activity for you! The via ferrata on Monte Procinto, in the heart of the Apuan Alps, is a spectacular route that is also suitable for those who are new to via ferrata climbing.
Once you reach the summit, more than 1,000 metres above sea level, you will be greeted by a panorama of extraordinary beauty, overlooking the Southern Apuan Alps and the sea of Versilia: a spectacle that will magnificently repay the effort of the climb!
The route is easy and does not present any particularly demanding technical passages. However, it is good to know that some points are particularly exposed. But don't worry, our mountain guide will always be at your disposal to guarantee you the best experience in total safety!
What we will do
We will meet in Camaiore, in the province of Lucca, and from there we will drive to the village of Stazzema (if the number of participants allows it, we will use the vehicle provided by the mountain guide). At this point, the actual trail will begin.
In about an hour's walk along woodland paths, we will arrive at the beautiful Forte dei Marmi Refuge. From here, after another 20 minutes of walking, we will reach the starting point of the via ferrata. We will have a short briefing on the activity, the guide will help us put on our equipment and explain the correct behaviour to adopt during the ascent. After that, we will be ready to venture onto the via ferrata!
The via ferrata route runs quite directly up the rock face, covering a height difference of around 150 metres, fully equipped and easy to climb. The activity lasts 6 hours in total, of which about 3 will be spent climbing up and down the via ferrata.
On reaching the summit of Monte Procinto we will take a photo stop, enjoy the view until we have had enough, and then descend along the same route. Before returning to the cars, we will take a break for refreshments: it will be possible to take a light packed lunch or eat at the Forte dei Marmi Refuge.
Who it is aimed at
Adults and children over the age of 8 may participate. Good physical condition, a minimum of training but no particular technical skills are required. Please note that the course, although easy, is exposed to the void in some places.
