DiscoverIrpinia and its lush, unspoilt greenery with an exciting via ferrata in Volturara, in the province of Avellino. Immerse yourself in the woods and enjoy anexperience in contact with nature, climbing on rock walls.
Via ferratas are the link between trekking and climbing. They consist of steps, bridges, cables and other artificial elements placed on a wall to facilitate the ascent. However, on the more demanding ferrate with less environmental impact, the artificial elements are reduced to a minimum and a fair amount of climbing technique is also required.
This via ferrata in Volturara Irpina consists of several routes of different levels of difficulty. You will be accompanied by a professional mountain guide who will know how best to lead you on this adventure, choosing the itinerary best suited to your needs.
What we will do
We will meet in Volturara Irpina (AV ) at 9:00 am. There we will meet the mountain guide and after a look around the characteristic village, we will have a briefing on the route and safety regulations. With the help of the guide, we will learn how to use the equipment and master the techniques to be used during the route.
The via ferrata begins a few steps from the village, on the west face of Monte Costa, within the Monti Picentini Regional Park. The route winds its way between rocky ridges and woods full of beech, chestnut and streams, in an evocative setting that culminates with the view of the Piana del Dragone, a valley nestled between mountains covered in greenery, where rainwater and melting snow form a basin that is only visible at certain times of the year.
We will walk the via ferrata in about 4 hours, reaching a maximum altitude of 850 m. The itinerary is variable and will be decided by the guide according to the participants' level of preparation. In spite of the presence of steps, ladders, supports, cables and other devices that facilitate the passage, one must be prepared to face some more challenging sections that require a certain muscular effort and tolerance to verticality and emptiness, so... no dizziness!
In any case, with the support of the guide and equipment, the route can be completed by anyone with a minimum of training and agility and a great desire to experience strong sensations!
Who it is aimed at
This activity is at an intermediate level. No specific mountaineering or climbing skills are required, but you must be in good physical condition and have a minimum of training and agility. You can participate from the age of 14.

Attention! Please arrive at least 15 minutes before the departure time.
The activity can be booked every day from March to December and is intended for private groups of a maximum of 6 participants. In the event of weather conditions preventing it from taking place, you will be promptly informed by your guide.

If you have made a fixed date reservation and the weather conditions are not suitable for the safe conduct of the activity (in the expert opinion of the guide), you will be refunded the full amount paid. The guide may suggest an alternative date or time for you to conduct the activity. You can freely choose whether or not to accept these proposals. If you can’t retrieve it, we will process a full refund! If you have set the date for your Gift Voucher and bad weather did not allow the activity to take place, the Voucher remains regularly valid until the expiration date indicated on it.
