Full description
Discover the charm of theLucano Apennines by venturing, together with a private mountain guide, on a via ferrata near the characteristic village of Sasso di Castalda, in the province of Potenza.
Via ferrata are the link between trekking and climbing. They are routes equipped with cables, steps, bridges and other artificial elements that facilitate the ascent. Exciting itineraries that give the thrill of height and verticality even to those who are not experienced climbers.
The icing on the cake of this experience, in addition to the many breathtaking landscapes, will be the Tibetan bridges suspended in the void. Forbidden to suffer from vertigo!
What we will do
We will meet the mountain guide at 10:00 a.m. in Sasso di Castalda (PZ). We will first hold a briefing on the route, the use ofequipment and the via ferrata kit (included in the participation fee), and techniques for carrying out the activity safely.
The route combines sections belonging to two via ferratas. We will begin with the via ferrata Arenazzo, which winds its way along the stream of the same name, passing from one side of the valley to the other. A downhill path will lead us to the entrance of the first 15-metre Tibetan bridge. We will then cross to the opposite side and climb a vertical wall facilitated by several metal steps.
The oblique crossing of the wall will take us on a downhill stretch to a long traverse and then to the second 40-metre Tibetan bridge, suspended over the stream. Here we will have completed the first ferrata and, via a path, we will connect to the start of the Belvedere via ferrata.
We will tackle a couple of vertical walls equipped with metal ladders and move between ridges and large rocky blocks. Our 4-hour route will end near the entrance to the famous Tibetan Moon Bridge, which, at 300 m in length, holds the record as one of the most spectacular bridges in Italy.
Who it is aimed at
This activity is of intermediate/advanced level, given its length and the presence of stretches that require particular muscular commitment and tolerance to verticality and exposure to the void. No specific mountaineering or climbing skills are required. Participation is possible from the age of 14.
