A tour in a vintage Fiat 500 along the Conero Riviera

There are many ways to explore the Conero. This one has four gears and plenty of style.

From Porto Recanati, you’ll set off at the wheel of one of Italy’s most iconic cars for a 4-hour guided tour taking in the sea, villages and hills of the Marche region. You’ll follow your guide’s 500 along the coast to Sirolo, before heading on to Loreto and Recanati, taking in viewpoints, historic walls and panoramic views that are well worth stopping for.

Along the way, you’ll also enjoy a wine tasting at a winery and a sample of extra virgin olive oil at an oil mill. Open-top, four-speed and the Conero ahead: let’s go!

What we will do

We’ll meet 15 minutes before the time selected when booking in Porto Recanati (MC), where our guide and our restored vintage Fiat 500 will be waiting for us.

Before setting off, we’ll find out how the car works and have a short test drive to get to grips with the gearbox, clutch and four gears. Once we’re ready, we’ll start the engine and follow the guide, who’ll lead the way in his 500 for the entire route.

We’ll drive along the coast road linking Porto Recanati to Numana, taking in the beaches and views of the Conero Riviera. After about 20 minutes’ drive, we’ll reach Sirolo, where we’ll park the car and enjoy a stroll through the historic centre and Piazzetta Belvedere, with views of Monte Conero sloping down towards the sea.

Before setting off again, we’ll stop at a local winery for a tasting of local wines, including the famous Rosso Conero. Then back behind the wheel: our next destination will be Loreto, where we’ll visit the square and the Sanctuary of the Holy House and stroll through the streets of the town centre.

We’ll continue on to Recanati and stop off again at a local olive oil mill, where we’ll sample locally produced extra virgin olive oil served with bruschetta.

Finally, we’ll reach the historic centre of Recanati, the town of Giacomo Leopardi. We’ll stroll through its most characteristic spots, from the town tower to the city walls, right up to the famous Colle dell’Infinito. Then we’ll return to our 500 to tackle the final leg of the journey and head back to the starting point.

Including the guided tour, scenic stops, visits and tastings, the experience will last a total of around 4 hours.

Who it is aimed at

The driver must hold a valid Category B driving licence that has been held for at least two years; equivalent foreign licences are accepted.

The minimum age for passengers is 6 years; please note that the vehicles are not fitted with seat belts or child seats.

The total weight on board must not exceed 300 kg.

The experience is available from April to the end of September.

The organiser provides participants with two restored vintage Fiat 500s: a white Fiat 500 D, a model produced in the early 1960s and characterised by its iconic ‘wing-back’ doors, and a red Fiat 500 F, a later model and one of the most iconic examples of the historic Italian city car. The cars feature refurbished and customised interiors and upgraded engines, allowing them to tackle even uphill stretches with greater agility.

Each Fiat 500 can accommodate a maximum of 3 adults or 2 adults and 2 children aged between 6 and 15, subject to a maximum total weight limit of 300 kg.

Pets are not permitted on board.

Free parking is available on site; the meeting point is difficult to reach by public transport. A pick-up service from your accommodation/hotel is available on request and at an additional cost.
