Full description
But how do olives turn into that golden liquid that makes everything taste so good? Find out at the SuprEvo Museum in Monte San Savino (AR)!
Not the usual visit, but an interactive journey into the world of oil, where adults will learn the secrets of pressing and the little ones will have fun with mascot Olli! And the finale? A guided tasting with a rich plate of gourmet delights.
A 2-hour experience of taste and discovery, suitable for the whole family!
What we will do
The appointment is at the selected time at the SuprEvo museum in Monte San Savino (AR), in the setting of the Valdichiana, an area where olive culture has always characterised the landscape. We will be welcomed by our guide for a brief introduction, before leaving us free to explore the SuprEvo interactive museum on our own.
During our independent visit to the museum, we will go through ten thematic stages that tell the story of oil culture in all its aspects, from scientific to artistic. We will admire the contrast between machinery from the past, such as a stone mill from the end of the 19th century, and present-day technology, supported by videos and sensory paths that stimulate the sense of smell and touch. Afterwards, we will move on to a guided tour of the actual oil mill: if we come in the autumn, we will even be able to see the modern generation plant in full action during pressing.
Once the production tour is over, we will move on to the dedicated tasting rooms. We will begin with a theoretical part to learn the professional tasting technique, testing two types of oil (one delicate and one intense) directly in the glass. We will then be spoilt for choice among the 17 oils produced by the mill, including Grand Cru, PGI, PDO and BIO and aromatised oils, which we will be able to taste freely to discover our favourite.
To complete the gastronomic experience, we will be served a platter of gourmet delicacies made with olives and oil, such as country tuna, hazelnut spreads, dark chocolate glazed olives, vegetables in oil, pate, crispy bruschetta and a taste of liqueur made from the infusion of olive leaves.
The experience will last about 2 hours in total.
