Get ready to immerse yourself (literally) in a sea of salt!
At the Culcasi Salt Pans, in the province of Trapani, you will have the opportunity to experience a 'salt miner for a day' where you will collect salt with the tools of the trade, just like in the old days.
A guided tour of the salt pans and entry to the Salt Museum are included!
What we will do
The appointment is at the selected time at the Saline Culcasi in Paceno (TP) . We will be welcomed by the guide who will accompany us throughout the visit.
The tour will start at the Salt Museum and the ancient 15th-century mill, where we will be led to discover the history of salt, retracing not only the laborious work in the salt works, but above all, the history of the family that has been running it for generations.
Afterwards, we will take a walk around the perimeter of the salt mine within the WWF reserve, among protected plants and birds. We will walk to the banks of the salt pans where the water mirrors the sky.
Here we can experience ourselves as 'salt miner for a day'. Guided by an expert salt miner, we will discover the secrets of salt extraction and experience the thrill of harvesting it by hand with the traditional paluneddu (shovel) , just as it was done in the old days. An authentic and unrepeatable sensory experience that will immerse us (literally) in an enchanted landscape for 30 minutes.
To conclude, we will have the opportunity to taste salt, including the prized fior di sale and other varieties produced here.
The experience will last a total of about 1 hour and 45 minutes.

The activity is not accessible to wheelchair users as there are passages over natural terrain.

The experience is available from mid-July to mid-September and is confirmed when there are at least 2 participants.

If you have made a fixed date reservation and the weather conditions are not suitable for carrying out the activity safely (according to the expert opinion of the guide), you will be refunded the full amount paid. The guide may suggest an alternative date or time for the activity. You are free to choose whether or not to accept these suggestions. If you are unable to reschedule, we will proceed with a full refund!
