Horseback riding in the Alta Murgia National Park

"Run horse, run please, as far as the Alta Murgia National Park I will guide you!" Ah, didn't he say that?

Saddle up on your Murgia steed for a 1 or 2-hour ride through the woods, countryside and 'tratturi' of theApulian hinterland.

Get ready to learn the secrets of the horse world thanks to the advice of an expert equestrian guide. And now into the saddle, rider!

What we will do

We will meet, 10 minutes before the time indicated in the booking, in Corato (BA).

Awaiting us will be the equestrian guide, who will have already prepared the horses. If we wish to participate, we can arrive 30 minutes before the agreed time.

Initially, the guide will hold a riding briefing , lasting about 10 minutes, teaching us the main commands. We will get to know the horses at the riding school, calm and polite animals of the Murgese breed, typical of the area.

We will then begin our 1- or 2-hour ride , depending on the option chosen at the time of booking, in the Alta Murgia National Park. The slow pace of the horses will give us the opportunity to meditate, observe, breathe and get to know aspects of nature that are still unspoilt.

We will set off from the stables, crossing part of the Cecibizzo forest. In some stretches, we will be able to spot the majestic Castel del Monte in the distance, as well as archaeological finds such as the Neviera Church of San Magno and the jazzi, areas fenced off by dry stone walls, where livestock was kept in ancient times.

We will also move along the so-called'tratturi' of transhumance, paths used in antiquity for moving flocks, typical of these areas. Depending on our level of equestrian experience, we can proceed at a walking pace or trot, always accompanied by our horseback guide.

The route will be between 5 and 10 km, depending on the duration chosen at the time of booking, and will have gradients and flat parts, ascents and descents that make the activity more challenging for participants.

We will return to the riding school after a 1 to 2 hour experience.

Who it is aimed at

The activity is suitable for everyone from 14 years of age. Minors must be accompanied by an adult during the walk.

A weight of less than 100 kg is required to carry out the activity. Previous experience on horseback is not required.

Other information

The activity is available all year round, every day (except Mondays).

The routes may vary depending on the duration of the walk and the experience level of the participants.

Any accompanying persons may stay at the facility. Shaded areas and an indoor bar are available. Leashed dogs are allowed.

A take-away lunch can be booked at the facility(optional, payable locally). If interested, please inform the guide after confirming your booking.

The property is not accessible by public transport. Free parking is available on site.
