Full description
In Monferrato, among hills, castles and ancient villages, a half-day horse riding adventure awaits you, reserved for experienced riders. You will cover 30 km on horseback in the company of an equestrian guide, from Sezzadio to Castelnuovo Bormida.
The effort will be rewarded with enchanting landscapes, visits to medieval castles and, above all, a lunch worthy of a king at a local agriturismo. Because to cross the Monferrato in the saddle is an epic experience... but to do so on an empty stomach would be an all too heroic feat.
What we will do
The appointment is at 9 a.m. at the Sezzadio stables, a few kilometres from Alessandria. On arrival, the guide will welcome us and introduce us to the stable's splendid horses: Quarter Horses, Andalusians, Argentines and Appaloosa.
After a brief assessment of the equestrian level, we will choose the most suitable horses and prepare to set off on an approximately 30-km historic-naturalistic itinerary.
We will ride along dirt roads along the Bormida river and then reach Castelnuovo Bormida, where there is the only river castle in Piedmont. From here we will climb the hills of Pian del Sole and admire the enchanting landscape.
After about two hours on horseback, we will stop at a local farmhouse. Here we can relax and enjoy a typical lunch (included) before getting back on the saddle for the second part of the excursion. The menu includes three courses, water and a quart of wine and may vary depending on the season.
We will then depart towards Castelferro and tackle the ford of the Rio Savanazzo. On the way back we will stop for short stops to admire theAbbey of Santa Giustina and the Castle of Castelnuovo.
After another 2 hours on horseback, we will return to the stables. The excursion lasts a total of about 5 hours, including a horseback ride and a stop for lunch.
Who it is aimed at
The activity is reserved for riders with experience in all 3 gaits, aged 18 and over and weighing no more than 90 kg.

The riding style used is American (western).
The meeting point is easily accessible by public transport; there is free parking on site.
