Full description

Have you ever thought of turning a walk in the meadows into a little treasure trove of flavours and knowledge?

At Civitella di Romagna you can discover the world of spontaneous herbs: dandelion, nettle, mallow and many others are waiting to be recognised and tasted! Together with an ethnobotanical guide, you will walk for about 45 minutes among the meadows, learning curiosities, benefits and traditional uses of local plants.

And on the way back, a mint tea and croutons prepared with the harvested herbs await you!

What we will do

The appointment is at the meeting point in Civitella di Romagna. Waiting for us will be our ethnobotanical guide, who will welcome us with a briefing of about 10 minutes, explaining how the walk will take place and the rules for recognising spontaneous herbs.

We will begin our walk of about 45 minutes through the meadows surrounding the agriturismo, observing the typical landscape of the province of Forlì-Cesena. Along the way we will encounter various plants such as dandelion, nettle, mallow and roses and learn their properties and traditional uses. During the walk we will stop for a few minutes to take short breaks and learn more about the characteristics of some particular herbs.

We will have a communal basket where we will put all the plants we have collected so that we can identify them together!

On the way back, we will stop in a cosy area of the farm to enjoy a mint and nettle herbal tea (included) , accompanied by croutons prepared with the herbs we have collected (included) . Here the guide will show us how to make the most of the plants with simple, nutritious recipes and will also provide us with a guide to herb harvesting.

We will end the experience with a moment of sharing, saying goodbye to the group and taking with us new botanical knowledge and some tasty ideas for the kitchen. The activity will last 1½ hours in total.
