You know the strangest thing about wine? That everyone drinks it, but few really know where it comes from.
At the Il Torchio winery, in the heart of Irpinia, a wine-tasting experience of about 1. 5 hours awaits you, starting with everything that comes before the goblet: vineyards, cellar and stories that you won't find on the label. Then yes, they come too: 3 glasses, accompanied by local products.
And suddenly it will no longer be 'a glass of wine'. .. but a whole story.
What we will do
The appointment is at the time indicated when booking at the farm in Montecalvo Irpino (AV), in the beautiful setting of the Irpinian hills. We will be welcomed by the guide, who will introduce us to the history of the estate. We will start right from the roots, admiring an old traditional wine press that will reveal the origin of the farm's name and the deep connection with the territory.
We will then set off towards the vineyard for a walk of about 15 minutes. Here the guide will explain the production philosophy based on sustainable practices, showing us up close how the vines are cultivated and how nature is respected at every stage. Next, we will descend into the heart of production: the wine cellar located below the farmhouse. For about 20 minutes we will explore the machinery and discover the technical processes that transform the grapes into the finished products we will find in the bottle.
Once the technical part is over, we will go back up to the reception room where everything will be ready for the highlight. A guided tasting of three glasses awaits us, usually consisting of two whites and one red. Each wine will be served in an attempt to capture unique sensations and organoleptic characteristics, in a perfect "match" with a rich platter of local cured meats and cheeses.
The experience will last about 1½ hours in total.
Who it is aimed at
The wine tasting is reserved for adults only. Any accompanying minors and people with astemia can participate in the experience as "chaperones" at a reduced cost; for them, the full visit is included, as well as a platter of cold meats and cheeses accompanied by water or soft drinks.
The facility is accessible to people with mobility problems in the cellar, tasting room and toilets, while the path through the vineyard may be difficult.
Other information
The experience takes place all year round on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays and is usually aimed at private groups of 2 to 12 participants. In the event of bad weather, the activity is confirmed, but the walk in the vineyard will not take place.
Options are available for people with food allergies and intolerances: please contact the facility at the contact details given in your booking confirmation email to communicate any dietary requirements.
Dogs are allowed if small or medium-sized and on a leash; large dogs can stay in the open spaces outside the facility.
Free parking is available on site. The meeting point cannot be reached by public transport.

If you have made a fixed date reservation and the weather conditions are not suitable for carrying out the activity safely (according to the expert opinion of the guide), you will be refunded the full amount paid. The guide may suggest an alternative date or time for the activity. You are free to choose whether or not to accept these suggestions. If you are unable to reschedule, we will proceed with a full refund! If you have set the date of your Gift Voucher and bad weather has prevented the activity from taking place, the Voucher remains valid until the expiry date indicated on it.
