Full description

Discover the world of scuba diving, the sea baptism in the Gulf of Orosei will be your first of many dives! Even if you don't have a licence, you will be able to go down to a depth of 10 metres in the company of an expert dive guide completely dedicated to you who will follow you throughout the experience.

The diving centre will provide you with a wetsuit, mask and oxygen tank so that you can dive like a real diver in the waters off the Baunei coast where the sea is clear and transparent.

You will learn to breathe underwater and when you have become familiar with the underwater world, you will begin to admire the numerous animal and plant species that inhabit it. Get ready for a unique and fascinating experience!

What we will do

We will meet at the port of Santa Maria Navarrese at 15:30. We will be welcomed by the instructors, who will hand us the necessary equipment for our first dive in the seabed of the Gulf of Orosei. We will then follow a short but detailed theory lesson to familiarise ourselves with the equipment and the main diving regulations.

When the time comes, we will board the boat that will take us to the dive site. Before going into the water we will put on our equipment, then float for a while to get familiar with the environment and the equipment.

Each student can take as much time as he or she feels necessary and when he or she feels comfortable, he or she will begin to descend to the depth with the guide who will be at his or her side for the duration of the experience.

We will slowly reach a maximum depth of 10 metres. When it becomes almost natural for us to breathe with the tank, we will begin to admire the underwater environment, so different from what we are used to, but so incredibly fascinating. The dive will last about 20-30 minutes.

We will almost feel as if we are floating in the water and will be able to get close to the marine inhabitants that we cannot see when we stay on the surface. We will swim alongside shoals of groupers and amberjacks and get close to the vast underwater meadows of Posidonia oceanica. We may even see some moray eels!

When the time comes, we will return to the surface, always in the company of our guide. We will re-board the boat and reward ourselves for the feat accomplished with snacks and drinks offered to us by our instructors.

The experience lasts approximately 1½ hours and ends with our return to the meeting point at 17:30.

Who it is aimed at

The experience is open to all and no licence is required. The minimum age for participation is 10 years.

People with heart problems or pregnant women are not allowed to participate.

Other information

The experience takes place daily from 15 May to 15 October.

Any accompanying persons who do not wish to participate in the dive may board the raft if it has not reached its maximum capacity. Each accompanying person will have to pay 15€ on site. Contact the guide a few days before the experience to request availability.

It is strongly discouraged to dive 24 hours before an aeroplane flight, as, due to the lower atmospheric pressure on board the plane, nitrogen, which may have remained in the body, may form bubbles within the tissues that can obstruct blood flow.
