Discover the beauty of the caves on the Santa Maria di Leuca coast with a fantastic 3-hour boat trip.
Our skipper will take you to discover the caves on the Ionian and Adriatic sides, from the impressive Grotta della Fora to the Grotta del Drago. You can also admire the caves from the inside and enjoy a swim in the turquoise Salento sea.
The tour also includes a small aperitif on board with prosecco, taralli and soft drinks. So, what are you waiting for to book?
What we will do
The rendezvous is at the port of Santa Maria di Leuca (LE), where the skipper will be waiting for us. After introductions, we will sit on a comfortable 8-metre boat equipped with awning, shower, and minibar. After that, we will be ready to set off.
The tour will allow us to discover the wonderful caves of St Mary' s, starting with the Adriatic caves. The first cave we will see is the Cazzafri cave, which owes its name to the foam that dyes the entrance white. Cazzafri, in fact, is a Greek word meaning 'house of foam'.
Immediately afterwards, we can admire Grotta Terradico with its elongated shape similar to that of an Indian tent. This will be followed by Grotta della Verdusella, Grotta del Soffio and Grotta della Vora.
At this point the boat will reverse its course to take us along the Ionian coast. Close to Punta Ristola we will find the first Grotta della Porcinara, followed by the Grotta del Diavolo (Devil's Cave) and the Caverna dei Giganti (Giants' Cave), which, according to legend, was used to bury the remains of the ferocious animals killed by Hercules. Finally, we will walk along the Grotta della Stalla and the large Grotta del Drago, inside which is a majestic rock reminiscent of the shape of a dragon.
During the excursion we will have the opportunity to dive off the boat to swim in the beautiful Salento sea and enjoy a small aperitif (included) with taralli, prosecco, orange juice and Coca Cola.
The excursion lasts 3 hours and ends with the return to the port of departure.
