If you love trekking and are crazy about canyoning, body rafting is sure to win you over!
Venture into the Alcantara Gorge, one of the most fascinating places in all of Sicily, and ascend the river on foot between high walls of lava rock and splendid panoramic views otherwise inaccessible. Then let yourself be carried downstream by the current, plunging into emerald green pools and sliding between small waterfalls and foaming rapids.
A2½-hour experience you will remember forever!
What we will do
We will meet in Motta Camastra (ME), near the Alcantara Gorges. On our arrival, the guide will welcome us and give a briefing of about 15 minutes on the activity. We will then proceed with dressing, wearing a wetsuit, helmet, buoyancy aid jacket and footwear, before setting off on foot towards theentrance to the Gorges, about 150 metres away.
Descending the stairs, we will find ourselves immersed in the Alcantara Gorge and, together with the guide, we will ascend the river upstream along a river trek of about one hour, surrounded by lava rocks eroded over millennia by the incessant flow of water and walls up to 25 metres high. The first 100 metres will be very easy, during which we will be able to listen to the guide's explanations and admire wonderful panoramic views.
We will then enjoy climbing through the rapids for another 500 metres until we reach the point from which to begin the Body Rafting descent: Lake Venus, an enchanting waterfall that marks the beginning of the tumultuous flow of the Alcantara river.
Now the most adrenaline-pumping part begins! With our bodies free , we will descend the river for about five minutes through natural rock slides, small waterfalls and foaming river rapids. At the end of the course, we will finally return to the starting point to change and say goodbye after about an hour and a half of experience.
Who it is aimed at
This activity is suitable for everyone who is atleast 1.30 mtall.
It isnot necessary to be able to swim or have previous experience in body rafting or canyoning, but good physical condition is required.
Other information
This activity can be carried out from May to September.
There is a changing room on site with a toilet, shower and a secure locker where you can store your personal belongings. There is also free parking on site.

If you have made a fixed date reservation and the weather conditions are not suitable for carrying out the activity safely (according to the expert opinion of the guide), you will be refunded the full amount paid. The guide may suggest an alternative date or time for the activity. You are free to choose whether or not to accept these suggestions. If you are unable to reschedule, we will proceed with a full refund! If you have set the date of your Gift Voucher and bad weather has prevented the activity from taking place, the Voucher remains valid until the expiry date indicated on it.
