Canyoning Rio Nero in the Ledro Valley in Trentino

Experience the thrill and adrenaline of canyoning with a fantastic adventure in the Ledro Valley, a stone's throw from Lake Garda: the Rio Nero is waiting for you for an experience of pure fun!

Together with UIAGM Alpine Guides specialised in canyoning, you will follow the course of the torrent flowing through deep, narrow rocky gorges, abseil with a rope from high overhanging walls, dive into crystal-clear pools and let yourself be carried away by the current on toboggans, the natural slides carved by the water into the rock.

What we will do

The meeting point for the activity is in Arco (TN). Here we will be picked up by the shuttle bus provided by the mountaineering school and we will reach the logistical base at Passo Ampola. We will meet the UIAGM guide who will accompany us on the excursion and we will be given all thenecessary equipment.

After donning a wetsuit, harness, helmet and life jacket, we will set off on a trekking route that will take us to the canyon entrance on the Rio Nero in about 20 minutes . Our adventure begins here, but before setting off we will have a briefing on progression techniques and the safety rules to be maintained throughout the activity.

We begin with a liberating plunge into the crystal-clear waters of the stream and, once the ice is broken, it's all downhill... in the truest sense of the word! We will descend along the course of the Rio Nero between slides, dives, jumps from one rock to another and rope abseils on rock faces. The most challenging will be a wall 25 metres high, but the effort will be repaid by the view of a beautiful natural amphitheatre where we can enjoy more dives and wallows.

Then we will continue our descent down the Rio Nero, admiring the impressive work done over the centuries by theerosive effect of water on rock. After a good two hours in the water, the route will take us back to the base of Passo Ampola. Here we will undress, change our clothes and be taken by shuttle back to the initial meeting point.

The jumps are not compulsory and it is always possible to be abseiled by the guide, from any height. The activity, between transfers, preparation and excursion, lasts a total of 4 hours.

Who it is aimed at

This activity is open to everyone, starting from a body weight of 40 kg. No previous experience is required, but you must be in good physical shape and not be afraid of water, heights and enclosed spaces.

Attention! Please arrive at the meeting point at least 15 minutes in advance.

This activity is bookable from June to September, subject to weather and hydrometric conditions.

It is possible to hire an Action Cam with SD card included (which will remain with you) at an extra price of 25€, to be paid on site.

All equipment used for this activity is sanitised after each use and checked according to Safety First safety protocol.
