Canyoning Rio Buti in the province of Prato

Discover a fantastic place just 15 minutes from Prato and less than an hour from Florence and spend half a day in close contact with nature. Have fun travelling along the course of the Rio Buti, among rock walls, waterfalls and crystal-clear pools and experience, one after the other, all the thrills of canyoning!

Accompanied by an expert guide, you will explore the gorges of the torrent, penetrating corners unreachable in any other way and enjoying stupendous natural views between water and rock.

Get ready for adrenalin-pumping moments because along the way you will have to abseil down walls up to 15 metres high, let yourself go on natural slides and dive into the impressive Death Pool.

What we will do

The meeting point will be in Vaiano, in the province of Prato, where we will meet the guide who will provide us with the necessarytechnical equipment and all the instructions for carrying out the activity in total safety. After that, we will move to the starting point of the canyoning route, which can be reached in about 10 minutes by car.

Leaving the cars behind, we will plunge into a dense and luxuriant forest that encloses within it this little corner of paradise that is the Rio Buti, appreciated for its cool, crystal-clear waters and for the suggestive waterfalls that are found along its course.

The canyoning route will take us down the Rio Buti , progressing along the river bed. It will be like being in a fun natural water park, where we will jump into the water from rocky outcrops, be carried away by the current on toboggans (natural slides), abseil down 12-metre-high walls, and conclude with a thrilling plunge from a height of 5 metres into the so-called Pozza della Morte: it will be a mix of wonder and adrenalin!

The Rio Buti canyoning route is also suitable as a first experience. The guide will give us all thenecessary assistance, urging us not to be afraid of the obstacles we will encounter. In any case, no passage is obligatory and there will always be a way to pass by an easier route.

The activity has a total duration of about 4 hours, of which 2.5 to 3 will be needed to complete the route. It ends with the return to the initial meeting point.

Who it is aimed at

This activity is at an easy level and is open to everyone from 8 years old and up. No previous experience is necessary and it is not mandatory to know how to swim (a life jacket will be provided on request). It is sufficient to be in good health and have good aquatic skills.

Canyoning requires some physical effort. If you are over 60 years old, please contact your guide to make sure you can do the activity.

Other information

Attention! Please arrive at the meeting place at least 15 minutes before the departure time.

This activity is bookable from March to July and from September to November and is confirmed when there are at least 2 participants. The activity may be moved or suspended depending on weather conditions and the flow of the stream, which varies from season to season.

No rings can be worn during the activity and, if you wear glasses, you will need to secure them so that you do not lose them. It would be better to wear contact lenses.

Itis not permitted to wear rock shoes or rock climbing shoes. Hiking, running or classic trainers are permitted. Alternatively, suitable shoes can be hired on site at a cost of €10.
