Canyoning at Forra del Casco in Valnerina (PG)

Hidden in the winding hills surrounding the Valnerina, in the province of Perugia, Forra del Casco is one of the most exciting and fun canyoning routes in the area and always reserves strong emotions for those who travel it.

Canyoning, or canyoning, consists of walking through rocky gorges formed by the erosion of water from a torrent. It is a mix of trekking, mountaineering and water activities, allowing you to explore normally inaccessible places, thanks to the aid of ropes and the possibility of moving safely between water and rock.

The Forra del Casco canyoning route offers one thrill after another: waterfalls, rock walls, passages through deep, narrow gorges. And you can't miss the fun toboggans, the natural slides on which you can let yourself go carried away by the current, for a fun experience right to the last splash!

What we will do

The activity will begin at 10 a.m. with a meeting with the guide and the rest of the group at the meeting point in Ceselli (PG). After introductions and the handover of thenecessary equipment, we will move to the excursion site by car. From here, a 30/40 minute trekking route will take us to the entrance of the Forra del Casco canyon.

Before making contact with the water, we will have a briefing on the safety rules and progression techniques we will use along the way, and then it's off to adventure! We will start right away in the narrowest and deepest part of the gorge until we reach the large 30-metre waterfall, which we will abseil down by rope. It will be pure adrenaline!

From this point, the course of the torrent becomes wider but no less exciting. We will continue through chutes, waterfalls, rock corridors and stretches where the cool, clear waters of the torrent will reach us down to the basin. In all, there will be 10 rope descents, two of them a good 30 metres!

The activity is suitable for families, groups of friends, team building, graduation celebrations, birthdays and bachelor/bachelorette parties. It has a total duration of 5 hours, of which about 3.5 hours will be needed to complete the canyoning course. At the end of the hike, you will return to your car, walking for about 10 minutes.

Who it is aimed at

This activity is of an easy level, also suitable for beginners. Good physical condition and vertigo tolerance are required. Participation is possible from 14 years of age.

Attention! Please arrive at least 15 minutes before the start time of the activity.

Important! The activity can take place from April to October, subject to the availability of guides, and is confirmed when there are at least 4 participants.

Showers and changing rooms are not available at the end of the activity.

Dogs are not allowed during the experience.

Recommended clothing

• swimming costume
• t-shirt or thermal T-shirt
• sturdy-soled shoes or hiking shoes (no rock shoes)
