Your guide

My activity aims to show the wonders of my country on the back of the simplest means of locomotion: the horse. I want to introduce novices to the world of horse riding. Riding on ancient mountain trails is the ideal way to enter into a symbiosis with horses and to relax surrounded by nature. The association is affiliated with FITETREC-ANTE.

Full description
Spend awhole day on horseback and discover the beauty of theCampania Apennines along nature trails and ancient sheep-tracks surrounded by the tranquillity of the fields and villages in the area.
Departing from San Marco dei Cavoti, you will explore the Fortore Valley as far as Lake San Giovanni in Mazzocca and reach suggestive viewpoints from which you can admire a splendid landscape of the surrounding mountains.
In the company of an extraordinary animal like the horse and in close contact with nature, you will experience a very special day. Leave your thoughts at home and get ready to saddle up!
What we will do
The appointment is at 9 a.m. at the San Marco dei Cavoti stud farm, in the province of Benevento. Upon arrival, we will be welcomed by the equestrian guides who will familiarise us with the horses and conduct a briefing reviewing basic riding techniques.
When we are ready, we will mount the saddle and set off for our day's riding. We will leave the village to take a path that will take us up into the mountains to an altitude from where we will be able to admire a wide panorama of Terminio, Taburno and the Matese massif.
We will then continue on to the village of Foiano di Val Fortore and, via an ancient sheep-track used for transhumance of cattle, we will reach Lake San Giovanni in Mazzocca, where we will stop for lunch and a little relaxation.
After refreshment and rest, we will get back on horseback to undertake the return journey to San Marco dei Cavoti, with arrival expected around 17:00. Back at the stable, we will be given some complimentary samples of cosmetics made from locally produced mare's milk.
The activity will last about 8 hours in total.
