Full description
If you are someone who never gives up the action and is looking for adventures in nature even out of season, you should try dry canyoning Forra dei Corbezzoli, in the Sabini Mountains in the province of Rieti.
Dry canyoning is a variant of canyoning, practised in the absence of water and retaining some of the typical elements of canyoning such as abseiling with a rope and crossing rocky gorges, cliffs and sheer walls.
Exploring the Forra dei Corbezzoli is a fun activity that is suitable for everyone, allowing you to discover a wild and unspoilt natural environment and to enjoy a few hours in the open air.
What we will do
We will meet at 9:00 a.m. in Poggio Mirteto Scalo, in the province of Rieti, and together with the guide we will reach Roccantica, the site of the excursion. Before venturing into the gorge, we will hold a briefing on safety rules and progression techniques using the rope to best tackle the many abseils we will encounter along the way.
The Forra dei Corbezzoli (Strawberry Tree Gorge ) is characterised by limestone rocks and is so called because of the abundant presence of strawberry trees, a little-known fruit typical of this area. Between one rappel and the next, we will be able to pick some fruit and observe the unspoilt nature up close and perhaps spot some local fauna.
The route includes a sequence of rope descents suitable for everyone. The guide will always be present to give the necessary support and make the excursion enjoyable and fun for everyone.
In total, the activity will last about 5 hours and will end with a return to the starting point.
