3-hour boat trip among the Salento caves with aperitif

How many caves are there along the Salento coast? You won't need your fingers to count them!

Set sail by boat or dinghy from Torre Vado and venture out for three hours to discover the Ionian and Adriatic sides of the Salento peninsula. During the navigation you will be able to admire many natural wonders, from the Grotta del Diavolo to the Grotta delle Tre Porte.

A skipper will guide you to discover these natural treasures and show you the best spots where to dive. And, if all that wasn't enough to convince you, we'll even throw in a typical Apulian aperitif!

What we will do

We will meet in Torre Vado (LE), 15 minutes before the appointed time. Here we will meet our skipper and board a boat or dinghy (depending on availability and the number of participants) to start sailing along the Salento coastline.

During the excursion we will admire the sheer cliffs and numerous sea caves that characterise the Leuca coastline. We will sail along both sides of the Salento, Ionian and Adriatic, approaching the most spectacular caves, chosen by the skipper according to sea conditions.

The karstic caves of Leuca are unique natural formations, linked to fascinating stories and ancient legends. Among the most evocative are the Grotta del Diavolo (Devil's Cave), famous for its mysterious echoes and the Neolithic artefacts found inside, the Grotta delle Tre Porte (Cave of the Three Gates), with its monumental entrance with three natural arches, and the Grotta del Presepe (Cave of the Crib), characterised by limestone formations reminiscent of a scene from the Nativity.

We will also visit the Grotta dei Giganti, linked to the legend of Hercules, and the Grotta del Morigio, also known as the 'Lovers' Cave' for its small strip of sand hidden inside. During the tour we will skirt the main caves and the skipper will tell us about their characteristics and curiosities.

We will also make two bathing stops from the boat of about 30 minutes each, to dive into the clear waters and discover the seabed with the snorkelling masks available on board. After the second swim, we can relax and enjoy a Salento aperitif with typical local products such as taralli and friselle, accompanied by drinks such as prosecco, water, tea, and fruit juices.

The excursion will end with the return to the port of Torre Vado and will last a total of 3 hours.

Who it is aimed at

The activity is suitable for everyone, with no age limit. Minors must be accompanied by an adult.

The boat is not wheelchair-accessible, but staff can support any passengers with mobility difficulties in boarding.

Other information

The excursion takes place from mid-May to October and is confirmed with a minimum number of 4 participants.

The itinerary and stops may vary depending on weather and sea conditions.

The boat used is a fibreglass motorboat or a 9-metre dinghy (depending on availability and number of participants). Both boats are equipped with a freshwater shower, canopy, climbing ladder and life jackets. On board you stay without shoes.

Dogs are welcome on board, but their presence must be reported after the booking confirmation.

The meeting point can be reached by public transport; there is paid parking on site.
