How did pilgrims on horseback along the Via Francigena feel? No need to ask Alessandro Barbero, because from now on you can experience it for yourself!
Get in the saddle and ride with us among hermitages , castles and medieval villages in the province of Siena for a 3.5-hour ride.
At your side you will have an expert equestrian instructor to whom you can ask all the questions you want, especially those you can't imagine.
What we will do
We will meet at an estate 5 km from Siena, 30 minutes before the scheduled time of the activity. You will be welcomed by me, theequestrian instructor who will accompany you on this exclusive ride.
After getting to know the horse, it will be time to mount the saddle and begin our adventure. I expect you to already know how to ride and to master the walk, trot and gallop, but I will gladly give you a few tips to improve your technique.
Then we will leave the estate and ride along the Via Francigena, the ancient road used by pilgrims since the Middle Ages. We will encounter on our way the Pyramid, an obelisk commemorating the reclamation of Pian del Lago, and after a few kilometres we will reach theHermitage of San Leonardo al Lago. This sacred place dating back to the year 1112 will fascinate us with its history.
On the way back, we will pass by the Castello della Chiocciola and the small fortified village La Villa, two jewels of the Sienese territory.
The activity will last a total of 3.5 hours.
Who it is aimed at
The activity is aimed at people with riding experience, who must be able to master the walk, trot and gallop.
The minimum age for participation is 14 years; minors must be accompanied by an adult.
The maximum weight for participants is 90 kg.
Other information
The activity can be booked all year round and is intended for private groups of up to 4 people, who will be provided with a dedicated riding instructor.
To take outinsurance (included), it is necessary to provide the guide with your name and social security number after booking confirmation.
The meeting point cannot be reached by public transport.
Saddles for English or American riding are available.

What happens in case of bad weather?
If you have made a fixed date reservation and the weather conditions are not suitable for the safe conduct of the activity (in the expert opinion of the guide), you will be refunded the full amount paid. The guide may suggest an alternative date or time for you to conduct the activity. You can freely choose whether or not to accept these proposals. If you can’t retrieve it, we will process a full refund! If you have set the date for your Gift Voucher and bad weather did not allow the activity to take place, the Voucher remains regularly valid until the expiration date indicated on it.
If I cancel the reservation, can I get a full refund?
For this activity, the cancellation policy is flexible. You get a full refund if you cancel within 5 days from the activity start date. Within 4 and 3 days from the activity start date you will get a 50% refund. You can find the full policies in the Cancellation Policy section.
