Full description

Embark on a fascinating adventure on the slopes of Vesuvius and experience the excitement of this trekking excursion to the full. You will admire unique landscapes and come into contact with the amazing ecosystem of Vesuvius National Park, a volcano that is anything but extinct!

An expert environmental guide will take you on the Valle dell'Inferno trail, one of the most fascinating itineraries that owes its name to the gloomy landscape of lava rock spires. But that's not all, you will cross woods and pine forests where numerous species of birds find refuge.

It will be a very special half-day, you will learn the secrets of the most interesting and feared volcano in Europe, but rich in nature and life. Get ready to discover it!

What we will do

We will meet around 8.00 a.m. in Cava de' Tirreni (SA). We will meet the guide and the rest of the group and move by shuttle bus to Ercolano (NA), where our trekking route will begin. We will explore the western slope of Vesuvius, the one that allows us to better appreciate the beauty of the volcano.

The route will start with an initial stretch of asphalted hairpin bends that will take us to the entrance of the Vesuvius National Park. Here we will meet authorised guides who will accompany us on the itinerary, describing from time to time what we will see and providing interesting geological and volcanological explanations.

We will pass through woods and pine forests, observing the many species of birds that live there, and then arrive in the Valle dell'Inferno (Hell Valley ), which separates the ancient volcano, Monte Somma, from the young volcano, Vesuvius. Part of the route is covered by lava from the last eruption, which occurred in 1944, and features characteristic lava spires that contribute to the charm of this unique path. It is here that we will stop for a packed lunch, before embarking on the descent that will take us back to our starting point in about 1 hour.

The activity lasts about 4 hours and ends with the return by shuttle bus to Cava de' Tirreni, where we will say goodbye, hoping to see each other again for a next adventure!
