Sardinia is famous for its sea, but did you know it also has a beautiful natural lake?
Venture out on lesser-known routes with a horseback ride at Lake Baratz, near Alghero. A relaxing one-hour experience that will take you riding through fragrant pine forests and Mediterranean maquis.

What we will do
We will meet at the riding school in the Sassari countryside, 10 minutes before the indicated time.
Upon arrival, we will meet our equestrian guide, fill out the insurance forms and receive the helmet to wear during the activity. We will then engage in a briefing of about 10 minutes, during which we will learn how to handle our horse and give the main commands.
Once we are ready and secure in the saddle, we will begin our walk. The route will take us through the intense scents of Mediterranean vegetation, past strawberry trees and through a cool pine forest. We will reach the shores of Lake Baratz, where we will ride along the shoreline.
Lake Baratz, a few kilometres from Alghero, is a body of water of natural origin formed by the action of winds and sea storms, which have created a cordon of dunes separating it from the sea. Today it is a unique ecosystem, a habitat for land and water turtles, coots, herons and ducks.
We will follow a ring-route of about 2 km on dirt tracks, with some small differences in altitude. Our guide will accompany us on foot, making the experience even more enjoyable and affordable for everyone.
The total duration of the activity, including the briefing, will be one hour.
Who it is aimed at
The activity is suitable for ages 5 and up. Minors must be accompanied to the riding school by an adult to sign the forms, but can participate on their own under the supervision of the guide.
The experience is of an easy level and ideal as a first horse ride.
The maximum weight for participation is 89 kg.

The activity takes place all year round.
English riding is used.
Any accompanying persons can wait in the riding hall during the activity; dogs on a leash are permitted.
The meeting point cannot be reached by public transport; there is free parking at the riding school.
As an extra to be paid on site, a return transfer service from Alghero is available for 1-3 people, at a cost of €50 per group. After booking confirmation, contact the guide to request the transfer.
