Full description
Evening walking in the snow? Sounds a bit strange... until you get to Devero and find yourself under a sky full of stars, with Lake Nero shimmering in the moonlight and the village of Crampiolo looking like something out of a fairy tale.
In two and a half hours, this snowshoe hi ke will take you through the snow-covered paths and forests of the Ossola with an easy circular route of about 4 km.
Get ready for snowshoeing under the stars and some magical encounters with nocturnal animals!
What we will do
The meeting point isAlpe Devero (VB), 15 minutes before the scheduled departure time.
After the usual introductions, the environmental hiking guide will hand us out snowshoes and poles (included) for our night walk in the fresh snow. For light in the woods at night, we will instead carry a head torch.
Through very quiet forest paths we will walk along a 4 km round trip route with a difference in altitude of approximately 150 m.
Along the way, the guide will tell us stories and anecdotes about the nature of the place, which is immersed in the Ossola Protected Areas Park. During the ascent we will stop at Lago Nero (Black Lake), so called because of its leaden waters, surrounded by larch trees and undulating heights.
After about 50 minutes we will reach Crampiolo, the highest point of our route, and begin the descent to the Devero Plain under the starry canopy, a truly unmissable panorama. If we are lucky, we may even encounter some nocturnal animals along the way.
The snowshoe hike will end with a return to the starting point after about 2½ hours.
