Who said that hiking is only done in summer? Snowshoeing is among the best activities for those who do not want to miss the opportunity to admire the alpine landscapes when they are at their most beautiful. Snowshoes allow you to walk nimbly on fresh snow and are suitable for everyone, adults and children.
Snowshoe hikes organized by Alpine Guides are a great way to discover the best trails in Piedmont, reach magnificent viewpoints and have fun in the snow in complete safety. There are easy routes suitable for families with children and more challenging routes for those who are not afraid to struggle a bit. Upon reaching the top, you are always rewarded by the breathtaking view and a good lunch at a lodge!
If you are planning a snowshoeing trip in Piedmont, you should know that the best snowshoeing takes place in the Monviso area, Susa Valley, Valsesia, and the Cuneo Alps. For example, Sestriere and Bardonecchia can be good starting points to explore the Susa Valley and perhaps alternate between snowshoeing and skiing.
Starting from any municipality in Valsesia, you will walk along trails surrounded by the peaks of Monte Rosa. While in the Cuneo area, you can snowshoe in the shadow of Monviso or in the Occitan Valleys, rich in history and tradition. Also worth considering is the Maira Valley, one of the most pristine areas in Piedmont.
Easy snowshoeing for everyone is organized in all winter resorts. Those on vacation with children can safely consider snowshoeing. Children will love the feeling of sinking into the snow and walking freely in nature, and grown-ups will feel a bit like a kid again too!
People who are not very athletic have nothing to worry about and should definitely not give up the chance to enjoy snowshoeing. Many routes include a cable car ascent, so that you can avoid climbing up, and once at altitude, you snowshoe on easy, mostly level trails.
For snowshoeing in Piedmont, prices vary by location and duration. The average cost is around 20 euros per person for a 2-hour snowshoe hike. There is also the possibility of hiking privately with the accompaniment of a dedicated Mountain Guide. In this case, prices are higher and start from 100 euros per person for a full-day trip. Snowshoes and sticks are included in the price.
Experiential gifts are increasingly popular and appreciated and can be a viable alternative to classic gift ideas that often end up forgotten in a drawer. So why not give the gift of an evocative and fun experience in the snow? Snowshoeing in Piedmont can be a perfect gift for nature lovers and anyone who wants to break the routine and immerse themselves in a dream dimension!

20 Jan 2024 | High-altitude snowshoeing in Prato Nevoso with lunch
It was my girlfriend and I's first time snowshoeing and it was a great way to start. Once the booking was made and the payment settled, an email arrived with the guide's details, his phone contact and the address of the meeting place. Giorgia was very helpful in giving us directions on what to wear and bring. The snowshoe hike (snowshoes and poles included) started at 10:00 a.m. and after an hour or so of very light 'ascent' we arrived at the cable car (included) that leads to the summit of Prato Nevoso. Then once there at the summit, we did a little more snowshoeing and then went to eat at the 'La Rossa' refuge and the polenta was delicious. Then we set off again to descend first by cable car and then by snowshoeing. At 3pm, we were back at the starting point. The day was pleasant and the weather was good. I would do it again.

We went with Sergio to do something that was much more than snowshoeing, a magical afternoon in the snow, splendid valleys. A beautiful harmony was created in our small group, alternating from moments in which we listened to the silence of the forest with laughter and very pleasant and informative chatter about the history and nature of the area. Sergio is much more than a guide, he is a professional who is careful to ensure that people really enjoy the nature of the places he loves and frequents. There was no shortage of good food and life anecdotes, it was all there. Thanks to the wonderful person and guide that is Sergio, we will certainly be back!

I gave this experience to my boyfriend: we were both snowshoeing novices. Right from the start, Sergio, our guide, was extremely helpful, providing us with all the necessary details. After a coffee and putting on our snowshoes, we plunged into the snowy woods. Our group consisted exclusively of the two of us and Sergio, who immediately put us at ease. In addition to his obvious technical expertise, Sergio engaged us with fascinating anecdotes and details about the area and the local fauna. It was an extraordinary experience, which we highly recommend to everyone and which we will definitely repeat!

Everything perfect, incredible sunny day. The only drawback is that on the platform it says (snowshoeing 4 hours) meeting at the Rifugio del Verde while then on the email was written the Conca which on the internet (google) you can't find any information about what it is, and it's not good for those who come for the first time like me. I had to go to a lot of trouble and energy to get to the meeting place which was then super easy knowing it.. The day was exceptional in itself, both for the driving and the sun and landscape.

Very positive experience! The staff at Freedome was very helpful for post-booking needs, and in the days leading up to the excursion the guide was very kind and helpful with information about the weather conditions, with maximum flexibility in order to carry out the snowshoe hike in the best possible conditions. It was our first time using snowshoes and we had a great time hiking through nature and beautiful scenery. The hike lasted about two hours, including the preparation.

In reality, we arrived in late spring...snow still present but no doubt not an even and compact mantle. The guide, Costanza, was very good at following the entire group and not letting the scarce snow get in the way - on the contrary, she made the most of the place. Well done. Experience recommended and to be repeated!
