Full description
Admire the star-studded Devero plain and be captivated by the wonder of Lake Nero, before reaching the enchanted village of Crampiolo.
This 2.5-hour night snowshoe hike will take you through the snow-covered paths and forests of the Ossola, with an easy loop of around 4 km.
Get ready for snowshoeing under the stars and some magical encounters with nocturnal animals!
What we will do
The meeting point isAlpe Devero (VB), 15 minutes before the scheduled departure time.
After the usual introductions, the environmental hiking guide will hand us out snowshoes and poles (included) for our night walk in the fresh snow. For light in the woods at night, we will instead carry a head torch.
Through very quiet forest paths we will ascend towards Crampiolo, along a ring-route of 4 km between outward and return, with a difference in altitude of about 150 m.
Along the way, the guide will tell us stories and anecdotes about the nature of the place, immersed in the Ossola Protected Areas Park. During the ascent we will stop at Lago Nero (Black Lake), so called because of its leaden waters, surrounded by larch trees and undulating heights.
After about 50 minutes we will reach Crampiolo, the highest point of our route, and begin the descent to the Piana del Devero under the starry canopy, a truly unmissable panorama. If we are lucky, we may even encounter some nocturnal animals along the way.
The snowshoe hike will end with a return to the starting point after about 2½ hours.
