One-day kayak excursion to Torcello

The Venice Lagoon like you've never seen it before!

Paddle a kayak to discover the island of Torcello and disembark for a walk among its monuments, such as the Basilica of Santa Maria Assunta and the Throne of Attila.

Experience a7-hour excursion with an expert guide, in a mix of sport, culture and relaxation in nature.

What we will do

We will meet in Altino (VE), 15 minutes before the indicated time, to start the excursion together with our guide. After handing over the equipment, we will have about 30 minutes of briefing between land and water to learn the basics of paddling and feel ready to tackle the route.

We will then set off in a single kayak along a stretch of the Venetian lagoon, paddling for about 7.5 km until we reach theisland of Torcello. On the way, we will stop briefly to pace ourselves and appreciate the beauty of the lagoon: the calm water, the reflecting sky and the outlines of the islands on the horizon.

Arriving in Torcello, we will have the opportunity to disembark and discover the most iconic places on the island with a walk ashore. We will see the famous Basilica of Santa Maria Assunta from the outside, linger over Attila's Throne and the other monuments that tell the thousand-year history of this place. The guide will reveal curiosities and anecdotes that will make the visit even more interesting.

For lunch (optional and not included, approximately 20€ per person to be paid on site) we will stop at a typical Venetian tavern set in a park, or we can bring our own packed lunch.

Depending on the preference and level of the group, we will either kayak to Burano or return directly to Altino. The return trip, also about 7.5 km long, will be an opportunity to enjoy the last views of these marvellous lagoon landscapes.

We will end the day at the starting point, after about 7 hours of hiking.

Who it is aimed at

The activity is suitable for ages 14 and up. Minors may participate alone in the activity by presenting a release form signed by a parent or responsible adult.

Itis not necessary to know how to swim or have previous kayaking experience, but good aquatic skills are required.

Other information

The activity takes place from March to November and is confirmed with a minimum of five people.

The excursion takes place in single kayaks, which are more easily manoeuvred by beginners, but double kayaks are also available on request.

No changing rooms or toilets are available at the meeting point. Participants will be provided with one waterproof bag per person to store their personal belongings.

Guides will take photos during the tour, which will be shared with participants via download links.

Dogs are not allowed to participate in this activity.

The meeting point cannot be reached by public transport.
