Full description
One step at a time and you will discover. .. that happiness has the sound of snow under snowshoes!
Get ready to embrace the purest side of Alta Val di Susa, with a 3-hour guided snowshoe hike through the landscapes of the Olympic mountains of Sestriere, in the heart of the Cottian Alps.
You will walk through silent forests where your gaze is lost among the peaks of the Monti della Luna and, in the distance, the French glaciers of the Écrins. Snowshoes on your feet, off you go!
What we will do
The meeting point will be 5 minutes before the indicated time at the meeting point in Sestriere (TO), a renowned Alpine resort and venue of the Olympics. Here, our nature guide will be waiting for us, who will immediately hand us snowshoes and poles (included) .
After a short introductory briefing and a few practice runs with the guide, we will start the route along the Gelindo Bordin trail, at the foot of Monte Fraiteve. During the ascent, the view will open up to spectacular scenery ranging from the Monti della Luna to the French glaciers of the Écrins massif, offering perfect views for photographs.
The snowshoe hike will continue through silent forests and panoramic views to Monterotta, where the characteristic Grange Elp refuge is located. Here, those who wish can take a snack break (not included) and taste typical local products, immersed in the authentic Alpine atmosphere.
The return to Sestriere will take place on a flat and scenic stretch, ideal to end the hike in tranquillity, once again enjoying the views of the Upper Susa Valley. The route will be 8 km long with an altitude difference of 220 m.
