Rafting Adventure in the Stura Valley

Ah, how quickly time flies when you’re having fun! Almost as fast as the rapids on the Stura.

That’s why, during this 5-hour rafting adventure – almost without realising it – you’ll find yourself travelling 20 km through the river’s bends, accompanied by an expert guide.

Along the way, you’ll discover an ever-changing landscape, from stretches shaded by woodland to passages between rocky cliffs in the Gole dell’Olla, and long sections where the pace slows down. A thrilling journey, to be tackled with a few strokes of the paddle!

What we will do

Please arrive 15–20 minutes before the scheduled time at the meeting point in Demonte (CN). The rafting guide who will be accompanying us on this rafting trip down the River Stura will be waiting for us there. After collecting our equipment, we’ll get ready to set off and take a shuttle bus to the embarkation point.

Before getting into the water, we’ll take part in a briefing on raft handling techniques and safety rules, after which we’ll board the raft to begin our adventure!

Over the first few kilometres, the river winds through a secluded and wild landscape. The vegetation will become increasingly dense and the current will begin to present dynamic passages between exposed rocks, changes in direction and rapids that will require good teamwork.

As we continue along the route, we’ll enter the Gole dell’Olla, where the landscape will change completely. The river will flow through a narrow natural corridor carved into the rock, and the ride will become more exhilarating, with sequences of waves and currents that make this stretch one of the most distinctive of the entire descent.

Once past the most ‘eventful’ section, we’ll witness a gradual transformation of the landscape. The rock faces will pull away, the current will slow, and we’ll find ourselves paddling in a more tranquil setting, surrounded by the valley’s mountains.

The final part of the route will take us to the Roccasparvera reservoir, where we’ll finish our trip, which will have lasted around three and a half hours.

Once we’ve disembarked, we’ll return to the base by shuttle bus. The activity will last a total of around 5 hours .

Who it is aimed at

This activity is suitable for children aged 6 and over; those under 18 must be accompanied by an adult or provide a signed authorisation form.

No previous experience is required to take part in the activity. You do not need to be able to swim, but you must be comfortable in the water.

The activity is not recommended for pregnant women, people with serious heart, respiratory or neurological conditions, those with significant mobility or bone problems, or those with a severe fear of water. There is also a recommended maximum weight of 120–130 kg.

Other information

The activity takes place every day from June to September and at weekends in April, May and October.

Please note! The activity goes ahead as normal in the event of rain. Only in the event of prolonged heavy rainfall or weather warnings may the organisers decide to cancel the descent for safety reasons.

The experience takes place on a raft shared by 6–8 passengers; on request, it is also possible to take part using a single packraft: please contact the organiser using the contact details provided in your booking confirmation email to submit your request.

Changing rooms with hot showers and toilets are available on site. Personal belongings can be stored in lockers available at the base.

Ample free parking is available. The meeting point is also accessible by public transport, thanks to the bus stop located opposite the entrance.
