Rafting is a team river sport that involves traveling down the course of a river or mountain stream in special rafts. Each rafting ra ft carries a crew of 6 to 8 people, captained by an experienced guide who coordinates movements and gives commands to overcome rapids and other natural obstacles. Rafting is anactivity suitable for everyone, requiring no specific experience; you just need to be in good health, have good aquatics and choose the route best suited to your level. Before entering the water, a briefing is given on the rules of behavior and safety, and you are immediately ready to go. The best time to go rafting is from April to October. The navigability of the river depends on hydrometric conditions. Because of its abundant water flow, the Stura di Demonte River is navigable even in midsummer.
Cuneo Rafting: the best rafting descents on the Stura di Demonte River
To go rafting on the Stura di Demonte River, you can start from Gaiola, just 20 minutes from the city of Cuneo. From here the classic rafting descent starts, which is 6 to 8 km long and alternates between lively stretches with rapids and quieter sections where you can contemplate the surrounding nature. The integral descent, on the other hand, is about 18 km long…for those who never get tired!
The Stura di Demonte River can also be traveled by kayak-raft, a one- or two-seater inflatable boat that allows greater agility and freedom of movement. It is ideal for combining canoeing and rafting for an even more eventful experience!
How much does it cost to go whitewater rafting in Cuneo and province?
Prices for rafting in and around Cuneo depend mainly on the length of the route. It starts from 49 euros per person for the classic rafting descent up to 65 euros for the full rafting descent.
