Discovering the suggestive Alcantara Gorge, its river and the surrounding landscape with its colours, scents and freshness is a dream come true thanks to our one-hour river trekking tour, designed for those who want to enjoy the natural beauty in serenity.
Together with a certified river guide, you will walk with the typical boots called 'scafandri' a 3-km-long, hazard-free route inside the gorges.
On the territory of Motta Camastra, in Fondaco Motta, unforgettable emotions await you that you will carry in your heart forever. We are waiting for you!
What we will do
The rendezvous is at the time selected at Fondaco Motta, in the province of Messina. At the meeting point I will hold a briefing lasting a few minutes, after which I will provide you with the necessary equipment to participate, i.e. fishing boots called 'scafandri' and a helmet.
We will admire the impressive canyon formed by walls of lava basalt sculpted into various shapes, up to 25 metres high and up to 5 metres wide, and the most important and famous gorge of the Alcantara River, 6 km long, 3 km of which can be easily traversed.
It will be a hazard-free adventure and during the approach to the river, I will also give explanations about the area and the right way to approach it. Finally, this excursion will be an opportunity to admire one of the most spectacular places in Sicily, a unique and enchanting place that will take your breath away.
The river trek lasts a total of 1 hour.

The excursion is aimed at everyone from the age of 10.

The excursion is available every day from April to the end of October, weather permitting.
Wetsuits (boots) for children are available up to size 37 and wetsuits up to size 34/35.
There is free secure parking at the meeting place.
A bag for personal belongings will be provided free of charge.

What happens in case of bad weather?
If you have made a fixed date reservation and the weather conditions are not suitable for the safe conduct of the activity (in the expert opinion of the guide), you will be refunded the full amount paid. The guide may suggest an alternative date or time for you to conduct the activity. You can freely choose whether or not to accept these proposals. If you can’t retrieve it, we will process a full refund! If you have set the date for your Gift Voucher and bad weather did not allow the activity to take place, the Voucher remains regularly valid until the expiration date indicated on it.
If I cancel the reservation, can I get a full refund?
For this activity, the cancellation policy is flexible. You get a full refund if you cancel within 5 days from the activity start date. Within 4 and 3 days from the activity start date you will get a 50% refund. You can find the full policies in the Cancellation Policy section.
