Full description

Get ready for a unique experience in the Orrido di Botri State Natural Reserve, where you will walk in one of the largest canyons in Tuscany.

During our river trekking experience, we will follow a route through the bed of the Pelago river, encountering waterfalls and natural pools in a limestone gorge with walls up to 200 metres high.

It will be an experience that will allow you to immerse yourself in wild and unspoilt nature, admiring a spectacular landscape. A unique and... refreshing!

What we will do

The appointment is at 10:00 a.m. (arrive 15 minutes early) in Ponte a Gaio, a hamlet of Bagni di Lucca. After a briefing on the activity, we will don protective helmets and set off on this refreshing adventure.

We will enter theOrrido di Botri, the deepest limestone gorge in Tuscany. We will walk in the river bed, our feet in the water and our eyes filled with wonder at the incredible landscape around us: the tree vegetation, in summer, blends perfectly with the limestone rock of the site, which is grey here and reddish there due to the presence of iron.

We will make several scenic stops during our hike, during which I will tell you many interesting facts about the area and the surrounding nature.

Then we will locate a spot where we can stop for a picnic lunch, in the company of the relaxing sound of flowing water. After lunch we will continue with our itinerary, which will end with the return to the starting point.

The route is about 5 km long and takes place in the stream bed. The total duration of the activity is about 4 hours.
