Full description
At the weekend, some people enjoy themselves in dancing shoes, whilst others enjoy themselves in… snowshoes.
If you fall into the second category, this snowshoe hike in Courmayeur, in Val Ferret, is the perfect opportunity to hit the slopes. Accompanied by a qualified hiking guide, you’ll walk to a spectacular panoramic viewpoint to admire Mont Blanc and the Planpincieux glacier up close.
A 3½-hour experience to discover the mountains from a whole new perspective!
What we will do
We’ll meet 15 minutes before 10. 00 am at the meeting point in Planpincieux, Courmayeur (AO). The nature and hiking guide will be there to welcome us and accompany us on this adventure!
After introductions, we’ll be given our equipment (snowshoes and poles) and take part in a briefing to prepare for the activity, during which the guide will provide all the information we need to move easily on the snow, ensuring a worry-free experience for everyone.
We’ll set off directly from Planpincieux in Val Ferret. Our route, which is uphill and free of exposed sections, will allow us to immediately get in tune with the winter environment, as we make our way through the silence of the snow-covered landscape.
We’ll snowshoe until we reach a beautiful panoramic viewpoint overlooking the Mont Blanc massif. Right here, at the foot of the Planpincieux Glacier, we’ll take a break: the guide will tell us about the history of these peaks, explaining the impacts of climate change and the consequences of glacial melt on biodiversity.
After taking a few well-deserved souvenir photos, we’ll begin our descent back down the mountain. We’ll then return to the meeting point; the route is 6 km in total with an elevation gain of around 400 metres. The experience will last approximately 3½ hours.
