Snowshoeing can be an ideal activity to do with the whole family. Children will have a great time sinking into fresh snow and feeling like they are the protagonists of a fairy tale amidst enchanted forests, castles and small mountain villages. While snowshoeing on Aosta Valley’s trails, it is also not uncommon to encounter ibex and other animals in their natural habitat.
Snowshoeing routes in the Aosta Valley are suitable for any type of hiker. Easy trails with little elevation gain are perfect for those seeking a relaxing and recreational activity. And there is no shortage of more challenging routes for those who want to reach higher huts. In any case, it is always good to be accompanied by a mountain guide who is fully familiar with the terrain and snow conditions.
Among the best snowshoeing trails in the Aosta Valley there are those within the Gran Paradiso National Park, accessible from the municipalities of Rhêmes-Notre-Dame, Cogne or Valsavarenche. Here you can go on hikes totally immersed in nature and discover a very valuable ecosystem.
The snowshoeing in Pila or Morgex is no less impressive. From here it is possible to reach the high alpine pastures for breathtaking views of Mont Blanc and other peaks of over 4,000 m. From Courmayeur, however, you can reach the picturesque village of Les Suches or Val Ferret, always accompanied by the view of Mont Blanc.
Prices for snowshoeing in the Aosta Valley vary by duration and location, and are generally quite affordable. It starts at 25 euros per person for a half-day snowshoeing hike (about 4 hours). The fee includes accompaniment by a guide and rental of snowshoes and sticks.
