If you think the sweetest sound is that of nature, this 3-hour snowshoe hike in the province of Turin is just for you!
Walk along snowy paths framed by woods and ancient buildings, then reach the frozen Black Lake at an altitude of 2,000 m and enjoy the harmony of the surrounding natural scenery.
It will be the perfect opportunity to appreciate the peace and silence that will envelop you!
What we will do
We will meet at the meeting point in Bousson (TO), where our nature guide will be waiting for us, who will immediately hand us snowshoes and poles (included).
Afterwards, we will have a short initial briefing to learn how to walk on snowshoes and, when we feel confident, we will start the snowshoe hike. The first section will be very easy and perfect for getting used to the snowpack conditions. Then, we will continue with a gentle ascent along a road framed by woods and old buildings.
At the halfway point, 4.5 km long and with an altitude difference of 360 m, we will reach an altitude of 2,000 m and our efforts will be rewarded by the view of the magnificent Black Lake, which freezes over in winter and offers a unique natural spectacle. A short distance away, we will find Capanna Mautino, one of the oldest refuges in Italy. If we wish, we can take advantage of the 40-minute stop to refresh ourselves with a nice aperitif or hot drink (not included).
Once we have left, we will return to our starting point by snowshoeing on a downhill path. In the meantime, the guide will tell us some anecdotes about the area that will make us end the experience with a smile.
The total duration of the activity, including initial briefing and stop, is 3 hours.
Who it is aimed at
The activity is suitable for ages 10 and up. Unaccompanied minors under the age of 18 may participate subject to signing a waiver by a responsible adult.
There are no sections along the route that might disturb those suffering from vertigo.
Other information
The activity is available from December to April and will be confirmed on reaching a minimum of 4 participants.
By requesting in advance through the contacts in the booking confirmation e-mail and paying a supplement on site, a transfer service from the stations of Sestriere, San Sicario, Cesana Torinese, Clavier and Oulx and lunch in a local mountain hut (at the end or before the experience) are available.
Dogs are allowed.
The meeting point cannot be reached by public transport, while free parking spaces are available nearby.
