Full description

White slopes and snow-capped peaks await you in Gressoney, Aosta Valley!

Put your snowshoes on your feet and set off on an adventure: a half-day excursion to the base of Monte Rosa will allow you to admire the suggestive views of the Valle del Lys and reach the Orestes Hut.

Up there, at an altitude of 2,600 metres, you will really feel at one with nature.

What we will do

We will meet at 9 a.m. in Gressoney, at the meeting point indicated in the booking confirmation.

Before setting off, we will have a briefing on the route that awaits us and take the ski lif ts (ticket not included), which will take us to altitude in about 20 minutes. Once we arrive by cable car at Gabiet, we will put on our snowshoes and be ready to start our hike.

Proceeding on foot, we will reach higher and higher peaks, until we reach the gates of the Orestes Hut. The route will be covered in a couple of hours' walk, with about 300 metres of altitude difference, across tracks used by freeriders, snow-covered alpine pastures and enchanting scenery over the Lys Valley, Monte Rosa and the entire Aosta Valley.

The Orestes Hut, built with zero impact, specialises in vegan cuisine and bears witness to the delicate balance between man and nature. Up here, at an altitude of 2,600 metres, we will feel part of something great, to be protected for future generations.

For lunch (not included) we can eat what we have brought from home or take something directly from the hut. Once we have recovered our energy, we will snowshoe back down to the Gabiet cable car, which will take us back to our starting point.

The expected duration of the snowshoe hike, including stops, is 5 hours.

Who it is aimed at

The activity is at an easy level and suitable for everyone from 8 years old and up.

Minors must be accompanied by an adult.
