Snowshoeing at the foot of the Civetta in Val di Zoldo

In Val di Zoldo, a five-hour snowshoe hi ke through soft snow and silent forests awaits you. You will follow the path to the Maè springs, a quiet and shady area perfect for snowshoeing.

With a medium-mountain guide, you will reach panoramic points with views of Mount Civetta and Mount Pelmo, for an authentic and enjoyable experience in the heart of the Belluno Dolomites!

What we will do

The appointment is at 8: 00 a. m. at the meeting point in Val di Zoldo (BL), where we will meet our guide.

After the usual introductions, we will receive snowshoes and poles (included) for our snow adventure. The guide will show us the route and give us safety instructions before setting off.

From our starting point at the foot of Monte Civetta, we will soon leave the hustle and bustle of the ski slopes behind us. In front of us, a quieter environment will begin to open up, as we follow the path towards the Maè springs, at an altitude of around 1500 metres. The terrain here is protected from the sun, so the snow is often soft and perfect for snowshoeing.

The trail will be about 9 km long with 400 m of altitude difference. Depending on the level of the group, we will be able to choose whether to stop at a hut on the slopes or to continue on to Forcella Grava, where the cable car that supplies the Torrani hut starts. From here, the view of Monte Pelmo will be a small Dolomite reward to remember.

During the snowshoe hike, approximately 3 hours of actual walking, we will make stops to rest, take photos and enjoy the tranquillity of the forest. For lunch (not included) we can take something packed or choose to stop at a hut near the ski slopes.

Finally, we will return along the same route, returning to the meeting point after about 5 hours in total.

Who it is aimed at

The experience is suitable from the age of 10; minors must be accompanied by an adult.

All that is required to participate is a minimum of training and familiarity with walking on mountain trails. The route has no overhangs or exposed sections.

Other information

The experience is available on weekends in January and February and is confirmed with a minimum of 8 participants.

The route and duration may vary depending on snow conditions and the level of the group.

Dogs are not allowed.

In the absence of snow, the guide will propose the same activity with crampons, subject to the participants' acceptance.

The meeting point cannot be reached by public transport; free parking is available on site.

Recommended clothing

• High, waterproof hiking boots (no Moon Boot)
• Technical clothing suitable for hiking and temperatures
• Cap, gloves and jacket

Don't forget to bring

• 20-25 l backpack
• Spare warm clothing
• Thermos flask with hot drink or water, snacks and packed lunch
