Have you ever snowshoed to a mountain hut surrounded by the most iconic peaks of the Dolomites?
Get ready for an adventure that smells of fresh snow, incredible views and lots of fun: our half-day snowshoe hike to the Rifugio Città di Fiume!
You will walk through snow-covered forests, admire spectacular views of Mount Pelmo, Marmolada and Piz Boè, and enjoy a break in the warmth of a cosy refuge.

What we will do
The appointment with the Alpine Guide is at 9.30 a.m. at the meeting point in Val di Zoldo (BL), at the foot of Mount Antelao. Our guide will welcome us and provide us with all the necessary equipment: snowshoes and poles (included). After a brief explanation on the use of the equipment and the route, we will be ready to set off at 10.00 am.
Once we are prepared, we will set off along a path through the woods, taking breaks at the most scenic spots. After about 1 hour and 45 minutes of walking (2.3 km with 240 m of altitude difference), we will reach the Rifugio Città di Fiume, located at 1918 m. Here a regenerating break will await us, with an incredible view of the north face of Monte Pelmo and Val Fiorentina, framed by the Marmolada and Piz Boè. If the refuge is open, it will be possible to stop for lunch or a hot drink (not included), surrounded by unforgettable scenery.
After the stop, we will continue our ascent, tackling a 900-metre stretch (with a 70-metre difference in altitude) on a snow-covered path that will take us to Forcella Forada, at 1977 m. Here, the view will open out onto new wonders: theAntelao and all the surrounding peaks.
On the return journey, we will face a gentle but thrilling descent through larch and fir forests, over a mantle of untouched snow, until we return to our starting point. Return is scheduled for 2 p.m., after about 4 hours of hiking.
Who it is aimed at
The activity is of an easy level and is suitable for ages 14 and up. Children under the age of 18 do not need to be accompanied by a parent or adult.
Other information
The snowshoe hike takes place from December to March and is confirmed with a minimum number of 6 people.
Dogs are allowed, provided they are on a leash.
The meeting place is not easily accessible by public transport; there is free parking on site.
