Full description
If you have seen The Eight Mountains, you might think that certain places only exist in the movies. Then you arrive in Val d'Ayas and discover that they are right here!
On this 3-hour snowshoe hike you will walk through forests and clearings around Champoluc, moving between 1, 800 and 2, 300 metres along an itinerary within everyone's reach.
One glance will be enough to understand why these mountains have also conquered the silver screen!
What we will do
The meeting point is 30 minutes before 10 a. m. at the meeting point near Champoluc (AO), hamlet of Ayas. The exact location will be communicated by the guide two days before, depending on snow conditions.
We will meet the environmental excursion guide, who will accompany us through the beautiful snow-covered landscapes of Val d'Ayas, which served as the backdrop for the film The Eight Mountains.
The snowshoe hike can take place in the forests of Barmasc, Pracharbon or in the Estoul-Palasinaz area, between 1, 800 and 2, 300 metres above sea level. We will start snowshoeing in the forest, on terrain that alternates between groomed sections and fresh snow. As we proceed, the landscape will open up into wide clearings: here the environment will truly recall the atmospheres of the film, with immense silences and mountains that can be discovered one step at a time, like Monte Rosa in the distance.
During the hike, the guide will share stories of the valley and naturalistic information, adapting the pace to that of the group. The route will be circular, with 200 to 300 metres of altitude difference and a length varying between 2 and 4 km.
We will conclude the hike by returning to the meeting point. The total duration will be 3 hours.
