Full description
You know when you walk through the wardrobe and find yourself in a magical snowy forest? Perfect, only here you are not in Narnia, but in Bardonecchia!
Get ready to immerse yourself in the nature of the Valle Stretta with a relaxing snowshoe hike in the company of an Environmental Hiking Guide.
A 3-hour experience to experience a winter adventure worthy of a novel!
What we will do
The appointment is 10 minutes before the selected time at the meeting point in Bardonecchia (TO), at Pian del Colle. Awaiting us will be the Environmental Hiking Guide who will accompany us on this adventure!
After the customary introductions, the guide will hand us snowshoes and poles (included) , then we will take part in a briefing of about 30 minutes to learn how to move through the snow and get to know the itinerary.
Our hike will start at an altitude of around 1, 500 metres , entering the Valle Stretta, crossed by a river and located on the border between Italy and France. The itinerary, which is easy and suitable for everyone, will wind through a wide and sunny valley floor.
We will walk through forests and mountain huts, climbing to an altitude of around 1, 700 metres. Here the panorama will open up to give us a spectacular view of the surrounding mountains. The route will be a round trip (or a loop, depending on snow conditions) with a total length of about 5 km and an altitude difference of 200 metres.
We will then return to the meeting point. The experience will last a total of 3 hours (including briefing and stops, with approximately 2 ½ hours of actual walking) .
Who it is aimed at
The experience is suitable for ages 6 and up. Children under 18 must be accompanied by an adult.
The experience is of an easy level and suitable for a first snowshoeing trip.
Other information
The experience takes place from December to April and is confirmed upon reaching a minimum number of 3 participants.
Duration and itinerary may vary according to snow and weather conditions and participants' abilities at the guide's discretion. In the absence of snow and subject to the participants' acceptance, the guide may propose a nature walk with crampons as an alternative.
Dogs may participate, provided that they are socialised and used to being in a group; the guide must be notified at the contacts indicated in the email confirming the booking.
There is free parking on site. The meeting point cannot be reached by public transport, but an optional transport service is available from Bardonecchia train station to the starting point, at a cost of €10 per person (up to 9 places) , to be arranged directly with the guide at the contact details given in the email confirming the booking.
