Full description
A3-hour speleological excursion during which we will discover the sounds and sights of an underground world, entering one of the best-known caves in the Apuan Alps.
Like real speleologists, we will explore the cave, which is crossed by a river flowing through the rocks and which in some places creates marvellous light-blue pools .
We will be able to try the incredible experience of bathing in cold water inside a transparent pond, taken in by one of the cavities in the rock. Who knew it was possible to swim underground?!
What we will do
We will meet at the meeting point in Fabbriche di Vergemoli, in the province of Lucca, at the time agreed at the time of booking.
We will be given wetsuits and helmets, after which we will head towards the entrance of the cave, walking along a path of about 10 minutes. Before entering, we will have a briefing on the course of the experience and the behaviour to be adopted to ensure safety and respect for the environment we will be in.
Then we will enter the "Tana che urla", the first cave mapped in Italy and which takes its name from an acoustic effect generated by a waterfall inside the cavity. After only a few metres we will already be able to test ourselves with our first ascent. Once at the top, we will wait for our fellow adventurers to join us and then continue.
We will walk over rocks and through water and reach a wonderful pool of crystal-clear water, where the more daring can dive in for a refreshing swim and try the unique experience of swimming inside a cave.
This is a mostly horizontal route, where the highest abseil we will face is 10 metres. In some sections we will have to lie down in the tunnels to go from one cavity to another, like real explorers of the underground world.
Gradually we will approach the exit of the cave and, when we are outside, we will have a few minutes to recover before starting the approximately 10-minute return march that will take us back to our starting point.
The time that elapses from the moment we enter the cave to when we return to the sunlight is about 3 hours. The experience lasts a total of 4 hours, including the movement, briefing and dressing.
