Lu sule, lu mare, lu jentu... and the caves!
Get ready to discover a different Salento with a2-hour boat trip that will take you through a marine world of incredible natural cavities and ancient legends.
From Castro to Santa Cesarea Terme, it will be a journey of wonder!
What we will do
The appointment is 20 minutes before the indicated time at the meeting point in Castro (LE).
We will be welcomed by the skipper, ready to guide us on this adventure. After embarking, we will set off along the coast, preparing to admire some of the Salento coast's most incredible caves from the outside.
The navigation will take us past the Grotta Palombara, so called because of the pigeons that nest here, and on to the Ritunna and Ritunneddha caves, connected by a tunnel to the nearby Grotta Azzurra, amazing with its reflections.
We will then approach the entrance to the majestic Grotta Zinzulusa, an earth cave stretching some 150 metres with its stalactites resembling hanging rags, and the Grotta Romanelli, where remains dating back to the Palaeolithic period have been found.
We will finally arrive at the beautiful bay of Porto Miggiano, where we will stop for about 20 minutes for a refreshing swim. Before starting the return journey, we will be able to admire the coastline of Santa Cesarea Terme and its elegant Villa Sticchi from the sea, all to be photographed.
The activity will last a total of 2 hours.
Who it is aimed at
The activity is suitable for everyone, with no age limit; children under 18 must be accompanied by a responsible adult.
The boat is not accessible for wheelchair users, those with reduced mobility or pregnant women.
Other information
The activity takes place from June to October and is confirmed with a minimum of 2 participants.
The itinerary may vary depending on weather and sea conditions. There is no boat entrance to the caves; they can only be admired from the outside.
Theboat used is a traditional 7.70 m wooden or 8.20 m fibreglass gozzo, equipped with cushions, a ladder, awning and freshwater shower. No shoes are allowed on board.
Dogs are not allowed on board.
On-site parking spaces are available for a fee; the meeting point cannot be reached by public transport. A transfer service is available from Castro and neighbouring towns, within a radius of 20 km and for a maximum of 8 participants, with costs varying according to distance: to request the service, please contact the organiser at the contact details given in your booking confirmation email.

If you have made a fixed date reservation and the weather conditions are not suitable for carrying out the activity safely (according to the expert opinion of the guide), you will be refunded the full amount paid. The guide may suggest an alternative date or time for the activity. You are free to choose whether or not to accept these suggestions. If you are unable to reschedule, we will proceed with a full refund! If you have set the date of your Gift Voucher and bad weather has prevented the activity from taking place, the Voucher remains valid until the expiry date indicated on it.
