Full description

If trekking is your passion, you cannot miss this 3-hour tour in the Monti Sibillini National Park. Accompanied by an environmental excursion guide, you will visit the enchanting Lame Rosse, the Grand Canyon of the Marche region.

The excursion, which is suitable for everyone, includes a 7 km route with 300 m of altitude difference. Most of the itinerary takes place in the shade within the forest, along the way you can also observe the dam and lake of Fiastra.

Towards the end of the walk, the incredible scenery of the Lame Rosse will open up before your eyes: towering rock formations in the shape of pinnacles and towers. The guide's experience will be essential to fully understand this wonder of nature.

What we will do

We will meet the guide at 9 a.m. in San Lorenzo Al Lago, in the province of Macerata. After forming the group and holding a quick briefing, the excursion will immediately get underway.

The itinerary starts at the dam of Lake Fiastra, with spectacular views of the basin and the Fiastrone valley, and then continues into a historic holm oak wood, known as the "charcoal burners' wood". During the walk, we will discover together with the guide the various types of trees that characterise this valley and the history of the charcoal burners who lived in the woods.

After about 1.5 hours of walking we will finally reach the rock formations of the Lame Rosse. This geological wonder will suddenly open up before your eyes as soon as you come out of the forest and will be a unique sight. The guide will explain to us how these incredible rock formations of gravel and clay originated and, thanks to erosion by atmospheric phenomena, have taken on all kinds of shapes.

Finally, we will return to the starting point by following the same route. The route is 7 km, with an altitude difference of 300 m, and a total duration of about 3 hours.

The experience is bookable all year round on Mondays, Thursdays and Saturdays and is confirmed when there is a minimum of 5 participants.

You can bring your own dog, as long as it is on a leash.

If you have made a fixed date reservation and the weather conditions are not suitable for the safe conduct of the activity (in the expert opinion of the guide), you will be refunded the full amount paid. The guide may suggest an alternative date or time for you to conduct the activity. You can freely choose whether or not to accept these proposals. If you can’t retrieve it, we will process a full refund! If you have set the date for your Gift Voucher and bad weather did not allow the activity to take place, the Voucher remains regularly valid until the expiration date indicated on it.

If I cancel the reservation, can I get a full refund?

For this activity, the cancellation policy is flexible. You get a full refund if you cancel within 5 days from the activity start date. Within 4 and 3 days from the activity start date you will get a 50% refund. You can find the full policies in the Cancellation Policy section.
