Truffle hunting and lunch in the province of Rieti

Clara and Cumbia will steal your nose!

That's right, because these English cocker spaniels will be your sense of smell during our truffle hunt: you will admire their nose at work, contribute to the extraction of the gastronomic treasure and taste the fruit of your search during a truffle-themed lunch.

A day dedicated to the truffle, to rediscover its scent and flavour as if for the first time!

What we will do

The appointment is at 10 a.m. at the meeting point in Torri in Sabina (RI). Waiting for us will be the truffle hunter in the company of Clara and Cumbia, English cocker spaniels who will accompany us on this adventure!

Having gathered all the participants, the experience will begin with anintroduction on the world of truffles: what truffles are, what importance they have in the naturalistic context, how the dog is trained, and other interesting notions. The truffle hunter will be on hand to answer any questions about the world of truffles! This first moment will last approximately 30 minutes.

And then the truffle hunt will begin: we will venture into the estate's forest of holm oaks, oaks, strawberry trees and mastic trees. We will follow the truffle hunter and the truffle dog, admiring his nose at work. Once we have sniffed out the 'treasure', we can help extract the truffle! Depending on the time of year, it may be a fine white truffle, fine black truffle, black summer truffle or white truffle. Having collected our booty, we return to the meeting point. This second moment will last about one hour.

Back on the estate, we will have about 40 minutes free time to relax in this beautiful natural setting. At the call of"it's ready!" we will go to the lunch room, where we will have an encore of hors d'oeuvres, a first course and a second course served with truffles.

The experience will last about 6 hours in total.

Who it is aimed at

The experience is suitable for everyone without age limits. Children under 18 can participate unaccompanied. Children from 0 to 2 years old participate free of charge: please contact the organiser at the contact details given in your booking confirmation email to indicate your attendance.

The experience is not accessible to people with mobility problems.

Other information

The experience takes place from October to August and is confirmed upon reaching a minimum number of 2 participants.

The experience also takes place in the event of slightly bad weather at the organiser's discretion.

Dogs are allowed if vaccinated and used to the company of other dogs.

Options are available for people with allergies and/or intolerances and/or other dietary requirements: please contact the organiser at the contact details given in your booking confirmation email to communicate any dietary requirements. Personalised menus for children are available.

Free parking is available on site. The meeting point cannot be reached by public transport. An additional shuttle service to and from Poggio Mirteto train station is available at a cost of €20.00 per group round trip.
