Have you ever thought of becoming a treasure hunter? No, we're not talking about maps and hidden treasure chests, but an all-natural treasure: the truffle!
An extraordinary 3-hour adventure awaits you in the Itria Valley to discover this precious underground mushroom. In the company of an expert truffle hunter and his infallible lagotti, you will discover all the secrets of truffle hunting and finally enjoy a tasting of local products directly in the forest!
The best part? The final spoils will be all yours!
What we will do
Theappointment is at 09:30 a.m. at the meeting point agreed with the organiser in the days preceding the activity.
Waiting for you will be the truffle hunter and his inseparable truffle dogs. You will immediately get to the heart of the experience with a detailed theoretical explanation: you will find out what tools are used, how the dogs are trained and what characteristics make the truffle a true gem of nature.
You will walk through the woods and paths of the Itria Valley and along the way, you will learn to recognise the plants and trees that contribute to the growth of the truffle, such as the wild asparagus. You will also discover the extraordinary symbiosis between mushrooms, roots and soil.
Then the dogs will spring into action, leading you straight to your treasure! You will experience the thrill of extracting the truffle from the earth with the help of a rasp or spade, and take it home for free.
After the search, it will be time for a well-deserved aperitif buffet in the forest, during which you will sample some Apulian specialities enriched with fresh truffles. If you would like to prolong the experience, you can instead make arrangements in advance with the organiser and choose to visit a specialised workshop, where you can buy truffle products and enjoy a lunch based on this prized ingredient.
Theentire experience will last about3 hours , with 2 hours dedicated to truffle hunting.
Who it is aimed at
The experience is suitable for ages 5 and up; children under 18 must be accompanied by an adult.
The activity is not suitable for people with mobility problems.
