Full description
Ah, the scent of the mountains! The fresh air, the natural surroundings… and, above all, the local cheeses and cured meats waiting for you at the finish line.
Leave the daily grind behind and get ready to explore on foot the medieval heart of the charming Alpine village of Valpelline, just a stone’s throw from Aosta.
After soaking up the history, you’ll recharge your batteries in a traditional chambre d’hôte with an authentic, top-quality Aosta Valley aperitif.
What we will do
We’ll meet 10 minutes before the scheduled time at the meeting point in Valpelline, in the province of Aosta, set against the backdrop of the stunning Alpine valley. There , our guide will greet us and introduce us to the history and development of this mountain village.
Setting off on foot from the main square, we’ll begin our walk through the narrow streets of the historic centre along tarmac roads and easy-to-navigate footpaths. Our first stop will be in front of the historic Hotel Posta, a true testament to local hospitality and the ancient passage of travellers through the valley.
We’ll continue our walk until we reach La Tornalla, the ancient medieval tower and a distinctive feature of the local architectural heritage, before heading towards the parish church, which has always been a key community and religious landmark in Valpelline.
Finally, we’ll reach La Tour – Casa Forte, one of the village’s most significant and fascinating medieval monuments, where our guide will reveal the stories and secrets of the area’s feudal past .
Once the tour of the village is over, we’ll step inside a typical chambre d’hôte to awaken our palates. We’ll enjoy a pleasant aperitif with a tasting of typical local produce, savouring a generous platter of the Aosta Valley’s finest cured meats and cheeses.
The experience will last approximately two and a half hours in total .
