Full description
Flour, water, yeast and a pinch of curiosity: the perfect recipe for an extraordinary experience!
Step inside a historic mill in the province of Bergamo and experience the thrill of kneading dough during a 1½-hour bread-making workshop, followed by a tasting of the mill’s artisanal products.
Get ready for an experience all about the slow life!
What we will do
We will meet at the meeting point in Cerete Basso (BG), 5 minutes before the time selected when booking.
Here we will be welcomed into a charming 17th-century mill to discover the history of this site, which has been restored and is now used to produce wheat and maize flour. We will then watch the milling process and have the chance to play an active part in the process with simple tasks such as feeding the grain into the millstone.
From there, we’ll head to the building next to the mill, where another guide will show us how to work with the freshly produced flour to make a biscuit or focaccia, and reveal all the secrets of bread-making. Once we’ve finished making the dough, we’ll be given a tub of it to take home, along with instructions on how best to bake it.
We’ll then head out into the garden to admire the mill wheel and will be given some polenta flour as a gift.
The final stop will be a tasting of the mill’s products (included) , including biscuits, breadsticks, maize crackers, focaccia or cakes, all made with artisan flours, accompanied by water, iced tea or hot herbal teas.
We’ll say our goodbyes with full bellies after 1 hour and 30 minutes of activities.
