Full description

Don't settle for a glass of wine with a sandwich, happiness can be so much more!

We are waiting for you in Orvieto at Tenuta Le Velette for a unique food and wine experience, in which you can visit the company's ancient tuff cellars and 'put your hands to pasta' during a real cooking class.

You will learn how to prepare a traditional Umbrian dish together with a cook and enjoy it at the end of the lesson accompanied by the estate's wines. That's our idea of happiness.

What we will do

The appointment is at Tenuta Le Velette in Orvieto (TR), at the time chosen for the activity.

Here we will be welcomed by the Bottai family, owners of the estate since 1877, and we will begin our visit from the wine-making cellars. We will discover the history and production processes of this company, and then plunge into the underground cellars dug into the tuff beneath the villa.

Amidst soft lighting, rows of bottles and barriques, we will feel as if we are entering another world. In ancient times, the Etruscans inhabited the area that now belongs to the estate: they were the first to carve deep cellars out of the ground, where temperatures are ideal for storing white wines.

After visiting the cellar, we will move to the kitchen to begin our cooking class. A cook will teach us how to prepare one of the traditional Umbrian dishes: we will watch her work the fresh pasta and we will be able to put our 'hands in the pasta' ourselves using fresh seasonal ingredients.

And if we get peckish? Don't worry: during the lesson we will be able to beguile the wait with a board of typical products such as salami, cheese and home-produced olive oil, while tasting the estate's wines. At the end of the lesson, we will sit down at the table to enjoy the dishes we have prepared together, not without a glass of wine to accompany them.

The activity will last about 4.5 hours.
