Full description
Riding a dragon like in Game of Thrones is an experience you will never have, but in the Pollino National Park something - almost - as sensational awaits you.
Experience the thrill of 'eagle flying' in San Costantino Albanese: unlike a classic zipline, you will have the sensation of flying in a hang glider secured to a cable, under the wings of a majestic eagle.
You can fly up to four people together at a maximum speed of 80 km/h on a 984 m long cable. What are you waiting for? Spread your wings of fun!
What we will do
The meeting point is in San Costantino Albanese (PZ), at the valley station at an altitude of 579 metres .
Here we will be welcomed by the staff , who will help us sling ourselves and settle in the 4-seater "eagle" vehicle, equipped with a handle and footrest. During a 5-10 minute briefing , the staff will explain to us the safety rules and the correct position to hold, lying down as if on a hang glider.
The first part of the experience will take us back to the top station at an altitude of 853 m, at a controlled speed of 60 km/h. Once at the top, the drop down into the valley will begin, the actual flight: attached to the eagle-shaped structure, we will glide along a 984 m cable at a speed of about 80 km/h, bridging a 274 m difference in altitude.
We will fly over the panoramas of the Pollino National Park, identifying ourselves for a few moments with a noble bird of prey. Those who have tried the zipline experience will soon realise the difference: the 'flight of the eagle', in fact, gives sensations more akin to hang gliding than to the flight of an angel. Something unique to try!
The actual duration of the flight will be 3½ minutes, with the experience ending at the valley station, where the staff will help us unhook from the harness.
The total duration of the activity is about 30 minutes, but may vary depending on the time of year and the number of participants.
Who it is aimed at
The activity is suitable for everyone from 10 years of age or at least 130 cm in height. Minors may participate with a parent's release.
Good health is required: the activity is forbidden for pregnant women and people with cardiovascular or respiratory diseases.
One to four people may fly at a time: the total weight of participants must not exceed 360 kg.
Other information
The activity is available from March to October (every day in August; weekends during the other months).
The duration of the activity may vary depending on the time of year and the number of participants. A maximum of 4 people per shift are flown, with up to 6-7 flights per hour.
During the flight you can take photos and videos with your GoPro, if you have it.
The meeting point can be reached by public transport; free parking is available on site.
